VMware – How to install VMware ESXi 6.7 step by step

In this tutorial, we will install a VMware ESXi 6.7 hypervisor.

VMware ESXi brings many benefits to consolidate and increase performance through machine virtualization. This brings simplification of administration and reduction of capital expenditures while minimizing the material resources required.

Prerequisites

The minimum configuration for the VMware ESXi 6.7 release is as follows:

  • 2 CPU cores
  • 4 GB RAM and 8 GB recommended
  • 1 or more gigabit ports or more

For more details, visit the following site: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.esxi.install.doc/GUID-DEB8086A-306B-4239-BF76-E354679202FC.html

Procedure

First, use a USB flash drive equipped with the VMware ESXi-6 .7 version, in order to boot to it

When selecting the installer, the modules are loaded … Wait a few minutes

Once the modules are loaded, select enter to continue

Press the F11 key to accept the terms of the license. Otherwise, the installation can not continue.

A scan of the device is done …

Choose the volume on which to install the VMware ESXi 6.7 system. Here we only have one disc. In your case, it is possible that several discs appear. It is recommended to separate the system part from the other data.

Next, choose the type of keyboard to use, for better key interpretation

A root password will be required. I advise you to note it and store it on a secure site.

This will allow you access to the DCUI console on your ESX, but also from the vSphere Web client

You must confirm the installation with the F11 key

Finally, the installation is in progress. Wait a few moments …

Then, when the installation is complete, you can remove the installation media before rebooting your ESXi

Your system is installed. When the process is complete, you will be able to view this page.
